Beijing (also formerly known in English as Peking) is a metropolis in northern China and the capital of the People's Republic of China. On August 8th 2008, the 2008 Olympics was opened here.

[Forbidden City] Palace Museum (Gu Gong), popularly known as the Forbidden City (Zijin Cheng), is the imperial palace where the emperor and his royalties reside during the winter. Lies at the heart of Beijing's historical center, the enormous palace compound that was the former home of 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987 and is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world.

[Tiananmen Square] The world's largest parade square sits in the centre of Beijing and is said to represent the heartbeat of the capital.

[Temple of Heaven] It is located in southeastern Beijing, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Temple of Heaven was built in the 15th century, a sacred site for ancient Beijing, where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties made visits for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest.

[Summer Palace] 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) from central Beijing, was first built in 1750. Its 70,000 square meters of building space features a variety of palaces, gardens and other ancient-style architectural structures, so Summer Palace is regarded as the museums of garden architecture.

[National Aquatics Center] Know as "Water Cube", the National Aquatics Center is one of the three landmark buildings for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. It is located on the southern part of the central area of the Olympic Green, has 17,000 seats and covering a total floor space of 50,000 square meters.

[National Stadium] The National Stadium, also known as the bird's nest, is located in the Olympic Green, hosts the Beijing 2008 Olympic opening and closing ceremonies, as well as athletics and football competitions. After the Olympic Games, the stadium becomes a center for sports, cultural and creative activities
