Itinerary

Day 1  Arrival   /  Shanghai

Shanghai, China's most modern metropolisTransfer via: Flight   - By your own arrangement

Welcome to Shanghai, China's most modern metropolis. Be met at airport and transferred to the hotel.

Day 2  Shanghai  (B,L)

After breakfast, we will travel around the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai. The travel will include: the Shanghai Museum, famous for one of the largest and best collections of ancient Chinese art, the Bund, the financial center of Shanghai known as a "museum of buildings", Nanjing Road, one of China's premiere shopping districts, Yuyuan Garden an ancient classical garden, and Yuyuan Market, a shopper's paradise filled with local arts and crafts. In the evening we will enjoy a wonderful Acrobatic Show, one of China's oldest performing arts, acrobatics have absorbed features of opera dance and martial art, making it a truly unique art form.

Day 3  Shanghai   /  Kunming  (B,L)

Transfer via: Flight   - By our arrangement

Visit the Pudong area and explore the Xintiandi area with its 1920s style ‘shikumen’ buildings unique to Shanghai. Transfer to airport for the flight to Kunming. Arrive in Kunming, be met and transferred to the hotel.

Day 4  Kunming  (B,L)

Stone ForestToday we will visit Kunming's famous Stone Forest, a bizarre rock formation created over millennia of rain and weather. A must-see! In the afternoon you will be free to check out all that Kunming has to offer.

Day 5  Kunming   /  Shangri-la  (B,L)

Transfer via: Flight   - By our arrangement

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Shangri-la. Arrive in Shangri-la, be met and transferred to the hotel. Then drive to visit Pudacuo National Park which includes Bita Lake and Shudu Lake, are the two major attractions of Pudacuo National Park. The two lakes are recognized as ’The pearls on the Plateau’.

Day 6  Shangri-la   /  Lijiang  (B,L)

Tiger Leaping GorgeVisit the Songzanlin Lamasery, the largest Tibetan Buddhism monastery in Yunnan Province in the morning then drive for about 4 hours to Lijiang. On the way visit Tiger Leaping Gorge and First Bend of the Yangtze.

Day 7  Lijiang  (B,L)

After breakfast, we will drive to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and take cable car up the mountain at Yak Meadow. Afterwards, visit the Baisha Mural Painting. It is a mixture of artists of Chinese Taoist, Tibetan and Naxi Buddhists and local dongba shamans. This rich fusion had resulted in a tremendously powerful art.

Day 8  Lijiang   /  Chengdu  (B,L)

Lijiang Ancient Town

Transfer via: Flight   - By our arrangement

Visit Black Dragon Pool, where the view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the most obligatory photo shoot in south-west China. Then visit the Lijiang Ancient Town and go up to Wangu Pavilion on the top of Lion Hill to have a birdview of the of the whole ancient town. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Chengdu.

Arrive in Chengdu, be met and transferred to the hotel.

Day 9  Chengdu   /  Leshan   /  Emeishan  (B,L)

After breakfast, we travel to Leshan to view the Grand Buddha. Cruise on the river to see the enormous statue. It is carved into the side of the Lingyun Mountain and is over 71m tall and wide enough for more than 100 people to sit between its feet. Then drive to Mt. Emei. Stay overnight at foot of the mountain. 

Day 10  Emeishan   /  Chengdu  (B,L)

The Emei Mountain is known for its stiff cliffs, high visiting peaks, roaring waterfalls, gurgling springs, towering ancient trees and fragrant flowers. The highest peak of mountain is 3099 meters above sea level. The total rugged road to its summits is 75 kilometers long. A full day sightseeing to the mountain, taking cable car up to Wanmian Temple and walk down from the monkey area. Then drive back to Chengdu.

Day 11  Chengdu   /  Xi'an  (B,L)

Panda Research Centre

Transfer via: Flight   - By our arrangement

This morning we visit the famous Panda Research Centre to see these endearing animals being reared in surroundings reminiscent of their natural habitat. Then transfer to the airport for the flight to Xian. Arrive in Xian, be met and transferred to the hotel.

Day 12  Sun  12-Sep-2010  (B,L) Xi'an

Begin the day's activity with an once-in-a-lifetime viewing of the extraordinary 2,200-year-old Terracotta Warriors of China's first feudal Emperor, Qin Shihuang. On your way back to the city, stop at a mountain village and meet local residents. After lunch, we will visit to Big Wild Goose Pagoda which was built in 652 A.D. It contains a large volume of Buddhist scriptures which were obtained from India by the eminent monk of Xuanzang.

Day 13  Xi'an   /  Beijing  (B,L)

Xian Ancient City Wall

Transfer via: Train - By our arrangement

After breakfast, visit Shaanxi Provincial Historical Museum. This roomy, modern museum contains over 370,000 relics chronicling Shaanxi civilization and culture from as far as prehistoric times. The collection is strong in ceramics, bronzes, jade pieces, gold and silver items, ancient coins, and calligraphy mainly from the pre-Ming periods. After lunch, we will visit Xian Ancient City Wall, which is the most complete city wall survived in China. Then visit the Great Mosque, the largest and best preserved of the early mosques of China. Take the overnight train to Beijing.

Day 14  Beijing  (B,L)

Arrive in Beijing, be met and transferred to the hotel. After breakfast, we will first visit the historic Tian'anmen Square, the largest city square in the world, followed by the magnificent Forbidden City, which is the largest palace structure in the world and the place where China's emperors ruled for over 600 years. In the afternoon, we will marvel at Beijing's splendid Temple of Heaven, where China's emperors annually went to pray for good harvests.

Day 15  Beijing  (B,L,D)

Great Wall

Today we will have a visit to the majestic Badaling Great Wall and Sacred Road, which is a path lined with stone statues of animals, mystical beasts and officials who will serve the emperor in the afterlife. On your way back from the Great Wall, you will drive around the main Olympic venues for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the National Stadium (Bird's Nest) where the Opening and Closing Ceremonies were held, and the National Aquatics Center nicknamed "the Water Cube" for its unique design. Feel free to take some beautiful picture of these stadiums. A Peking Duck Dinner concludes your full day activities.

Day 16  Beijing   /  Exit  (B)

Transfer via: Flight   - By your own arrangement

After breakfast, we will visit the exquisite Summer Palace, the largest classic Chinese garden in the world. In the afternoon, be escorted to the airport for your flight to your next destination.
