Fuli Ancient Town

- Visit Fuli on a market day.

Fuli TownFuli is a small town located beside the Li River, about 7 km east of Yangshuo at the junction to Xingping. It's at least existed over 800 years. It is a market town from ancient times. There is a local market held on any day of the month that ends in 2,5 or 8. There is no "tourist" part of the market so you will enjoy a typical local Chinese market as used by Fuli villagers and people from nearby villages.

Fuli ancient town still has all of its old houses which you can walk into and see the simple lives that the local people live. As you wander around the town you will see all the traditional new years decorations which remain in place for the entire year. A walk around this old town is a very memorable experience. The town is quite small, you can walk through in 10-15 minutes.

Fuli town is famous for the paper fan, many local residents still can make the paper fan by hand at home nowdays, so it's reputed to be "the hometown of Paper Fan in China".

Fuli wharf was one of the most famous wharf beside the Li River in ancient China due to its good location and historical context. Nowadays, it is a great starting point to get a kayak and drift all the way to Liu Gong and Puyi.

Getting to Fuli is very easy. You can get a bicycle in Yangshuo and cycle on the main road to Fuli. Or you can take the local bus which is from Yangshuo to Xingping and will stop at Fuli frequently.

It's really a quiet, peaceful and elegant old town in Yangshuo with a lot of interesting things are worthy to be visit !
